The project in a few words

Warming Up was a training course for Youth Workers and Educators that addresses the urgent need for a holistic response to climate change. Based on discussions with partner organisations and current observations, we have identified the urgent need for a deeper understanding of climate change, the development of an appropriate mindset and the acquisition of practical skills to address the current crisis.

Objectives:
-Knowledge: To increase participants’ and young people’s knowledge of climate change based on scientific facts.
-Attitude: Change attitudes towards climate change by seeing it as a threat to the whole planet and not just to humans, and promote a new relationship between humans and nature.
-Skills: Developing specific skills and providing appropriate tools that contribute to a positive impact on climate change.
Based on the successful experience of our partner who has been working with climate change for years, we have opted for the 3H model (head – heart – hands) to ensure a holistic and complex approach to the topic

Main Objectives

The Warming Up project aimed to fulfil several important needs:

  • Combating the lack of knowledge and confusion between facts and misinformation or fake news about climate change and the climate crisis.
  • Raising awareness of the link between our daily choices and behaviours and their impact on climate change, emphasising the impact of individual choices on the environment.
  • Combating the prevailing sense of hopelessness among people, especially young people, particularly the belief that human action cannot bring about meaningful change.
  • Combating the increasing prevalence of climate-related depression, especially among the younger generation.
  • Providing a broader, global perspective on the challenges of climate change that transcends regional boundaries.
  • Encourage and improve international youth action to respond effectively to the climate crisis.
  • Restore the connection between humans and nature and promote understanding of the interdependence of humans and nature.
  • Challenging the perception that other global challenges are more immediate and critical than climate change.
  • Improving understanding of the links between climate change and other global challenges such as migration, social inequalities and more.

The final outcome of the Warming Up Training Course was a Toolkit of the activities implemented during the programme. In the Toolkit you find:

Arterra Bizimodu (Spain)
Arterra Bizimodu is an intentional community that was born in the spring of 2014 in the town of Artieda, Navarra. With the slogan ‘Another world is not only possible, but necessary’, since then they have been working as an Ecovillage with the aim of promoting activities towards self-sufficiency and exploring other economies that reflect a new balance between the personal and the collective, deploying the creativity and diverse talents of each of the people who join the project.
Art Market (Latvia)
Art Market is an NGO founded in April 2021 and based in Rezekne, Latvia. The association is active both locally and internationally, cooperates with young people, encourages them to be inspired by each other, to be aware of the opportunities around them, and to develop in many ways, thus also promoting sustainable development and long-term exchange of experience.
Kobiety Lodz Pl (Poland)
The Association has operated since May 2001. Their mission is to inspire women to develop, explore passion and flow with independent thinking power. Most of all, show this strenght to the world! The statutory objectives of the Association are to:
1. Promote initiatives aimed at women full equality in the political, cultural and social areas. 2. Supporting actions on human rights and especially the equal status of women and men. 3. Educational activities, information and training. 4. Activation of social and professional women.

Baltíc Ecovillage Network (Sweden)
The Baltic Ecovillage Network (BEN) is an association of national ecovillage networks. It consists of a board selected each year, which facilitates the networking activity between the baltic countries.

They seek to promote environmental protection and restoration of nature through education, social methods, technical solutions, youth work, culture, intercultural understanding between people and environmental protection.

Trailblazers Trapani (Italy)
Trailblazers Trapani Erasmus Generation serves as a bridge between the local community and international opportunities, integrating both formal and non-formal education to foster personal and professional growth.

Their work is guided by unity in diversity and diversity in unity, promoting intercultural dialogue and cooperation within the Sicilian Mediterranean context. They aim to balance local resources with global collaboration, addressing community needs while aligning with international goals.

Ecovillage de Pourges (France)
Since its creation in March 2017, the ecovillage has grown considerably thanks to a collective that has learned from its mistakes, built on its strengths and continually adapted.
The mission is to achieve human, ecological and financial stability. Their ambition is for each person to connect with their inner motivation, where they feel enthusiastic and fully engaged in their activity out of passion, disinterested in the outcome.’ Today, a truly experimental laboratory is born.
Puzzle OptimEast (Romania)
Association Puzzle OptimEast is an youth organization in Targu Neamt, a small town in the North – East of Romania. The association is organizing activities on the field of youth, tourism, culture and management.
