The project in a few words

Inclusivity Unlocked is a training course organized by Be Visible Be You in Fthiotida, Greece, from September 19th until September 30th. The project focuses on the capacities and skills development of the involved youth workers, to provide them with tools to create and host real inclusive and accessible spaces.

In our everyday life, people faces barriers not just in society at large, but also in the very spaces that claim to support them; physical inaccessibility, ableism, queerphobia, lack of representation, being misunderstood and overlooked – many of us carry the burden of being told, directly or indirectly, that we don’t fully belong.

The answer begins with the people organising those spaces: the youth workers. The ones designing programs, leading workshops, setting the tone in the room – micrographing society. But often, even the most well-meaning youth workers don’t have the tools, experience, or understanding to fully support the intersecting identities of the young people they work with.

And when that happens, exclusion hides in the details – in the assumptions we make, the language we use, the way spaces are structured – and gets materialised in organisational decisions that leave people out.

Inclusivity Unlocked wants to go beyond the buzzwords of ‘inclusion’ and ‘diversity’ and actually build the skills that youth workers need to make their spaces truly inclusive.

Main Objectives

With this training course, we want to:

  • Deepen our understanding of queer and disability justice.

  • Build our capacity as youth workers to respond to exclusion with intention, care, and action.

  • Learn how to design and facilitate inclusive, accessible programs that center the needs of queer and disabled youth.

  • Foster cross-border collaboration and solidarity, sharing inclusive practices across countries and communities and putting them directly into practice

  • Reflect on how our own identities, privileges, and experiences shape our work – and commit to transformative change.

  • Challenge ableist, heteronormative, patriarchal, neurotypical, sexist, racist & capitalistic norms, not through charity, but through radical inclusion, artistic
    expression, and collective transformation.

And we will co-create:

  • Follow-up local actions in each country to spread what we learn (workshops,
    local trainings, online campaigns, etc.)

  • International/national projects with international teams, to be applied for
    funding.

  • An international network of youth workers engaged to inclusive change
