The project in a few words
Breaking the Beat (BTB) is a project that aims to restore the original power of Hip-Hop, giving voice to the voiceless, using the arts as instruments of expression and self-affirmation. In particular, the projects focuses on young people who have been left behind in the process of globalization and who have been pushed into the typical marginalization of urban and suburban areas in post-industrial cities.
During this project, Bidaia will encourage the participants to share their daily lives and social reality, we will increase their intercultural and inter-social awareness and instil a sense of common experiences and solidarity. Hip-Hop is used as a way to address the frustration caused by issues of social exclusion, discrimination, racism, sexism and poverty, while also promoting active participation of youth in society.

Hosting Organisation
Asociación cultural Bidaia was established in 2019 by a group of youngster from Torres de la Alameda, Madrid, to participate more actively in the community.
Thanks to the individual and collective experiences that all the founders lived in the Erasmus + projects, they came to the conclusion that in their town they don’t find much spaces like the ones we found outside so they decided to open that door for the people.
