The project in a few words

“ARTivate Yourself!” (AY!) was a 12-day Youth Exchange about art, activism and active engagement in society. We explored topics related to the ecologic and social transition while focusing on Artivism as a creative tool for empowerment, self-efficacy and for having an impact. The project involved 42 participants from 7 countries, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Croatia, and Slovenia.

Main Objectives

  • Raise awareness about the social power of artistic expression and discover artistic ways to raise our voices and take active participation in society.
  • Empower young people by teaching performative and creative methodologies which can be used for self-expression and to raise their self-efficacy by encouraging them to express themselves through different artistic expressions.
  • Empower Youth citizenship: Provide a platform for young people to take ownership of their learning journey, develop leadership skills, and drive positive change in their communities.
  • Cultivate Environmental Awareness: Use artivism to raise awareness about topics such as climate change, sustainability, and ecology.
  • Promote Intercultural Dialogue: Facilitate meaningful interactions and exchanges among participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering mutual understanding, respect, and empathy.
  • Encourage Personal Growth: Create opportunities for self-reflection, personal development, and the cultivation of mindfulness through immersive travel experiences and experiential learning activities.
  • Foster Global Citizenship: Inspire participants to become responsible global citizens, committed to promoting social justice, cultural diversity, and environmental sustainability.
  • Promote Inclusivity and Diversity: Celebrate the richness of human diversity and create a safe, inclusive space where all participants feel valued, respected, and empowered to share their perspectives and experiences.
  • Disseminate Good Practices: Encourage participants to become ambassadors for active citizenship in their communities and bring new ideas to their peers about methodologies to express their needs in society.
  • Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Align the objectives of the exchange with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and strong Institutions) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)

Results

During the program of the Exchange, the participants developed personal performances on social and environmental topics. On the 10.6. we went to the center of Dresden, where the group had the chance to present their performances in a public space.

Udruga Prizma (Croatia)
Udruga Prizma is a youth organisation based in the mountain rural Municipality of Gračac. The area of Gračac municipality is 955 km2, which is 26.22% of the area of Zadar County. Spatially it is the largest municipality in Croatia. Gračac has the smallest degree of development in Zadar County, it is classified as the least developed area in Croatia.

Established in 2014, “NGO Lojtra” is a young and devoted youth organization. The devotion aims to permanently establishing a space, where young people find a safe environment, to express their thoughts, feelings and beliefs. And to empower youth to organize different activities to help develop the local community and at the same time use those activities as learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
