Valeta’s story of the Youth Exchange ‘Pathways to Equality’!
Valeta took part as a German participant in the Youth Exchange ‘Pathways to Equality’ organized by Demokrasi ve Hukuk Çalışmaları Derneği in Antalaya, Turkey in May 2024.
For 1.5 weeks in Kemer, we had the opportunity to discuss the topic of women’s rights with 40 other young people from different countries (Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Belgium). We had an incredible amount of fun in the group and learnt a lot about women’s rights in the different countries, even beyond the participating ones. The workshops included making videos, conducting interviews with residents of Kemer and acting out the topic. We certainly learnt a lot about women’s rights and how important the issue is for every woman around the world in everyday life and the significance of standing up for women’s rights and equality in general, even through small actions.

We were also able to get to know the culture of Turkey and the other participating countries through the cultural evenings, in which we learnt a lot through dances, presentations, games and songs and were also able to teach the others a lot about Germany.
In addition to the seminars, we had the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing swim in the sea and explore the small town in beautiful Kemer in the sunniest weather. We also had the chance to explore the surrounding area of Kemer independently on a free day. In the evenings after the seminar sessions, we also did great things together as a group, such as playing games, visiting beach bars and chatting for hours by the pool. The project was an incredibly educational and fun experience that I will certainly remember for a long time.
