Lea’s story of the Training Course ‘LeadSync’!

Lea took part as a German participant in the Training Course ‘LeadSync’ organized by Brújula in Villalibado, Spain in February 2024

LeadSYNC was an intense experience: not only because it was a training-course compressed into 4 days but also because it radically changed my relation to rural areas and their potential in and for Erasmus+ projects. Personally, I come from a rural area of the state of Hessen in Germany. I grew up playing in the forest and I enjoyed it a lot. The older I got, the more I got attracted by the cultural offers, infrastructures and the possibilities to express myself and find communities in bigger cities. Studying cultural studies in the university I felt lost between two worlds: I realized how easy and fulfilling it can be to organize cultural and artistic projects in urban spaces. At the same time, I thought about how important it is to get out of the cities and work with rural communities.

LeadSync (…) radically changed my relation to rural areas and their potential

Finally the LeadSYNC training course made me discover a possibility of connecting these worlds and also develop other perspectives on the potential of rural areas and rural youth: I came up with the idea of organizing a project in my hometown that connects my biography with my interest in (socio)cultural projects and international exchange.

I want to say thanks to Brujula for unlocking this perspective in me. I am so happy that the topic of inclusion of rural areas/youth was very present in the activities of the training course and that I got to hear beautiful stories of their own experience of working with the rural communities around Burgos. I left the training course with lots of new ideas and motivation.

“The LeadSYNC training course made me discover a possibility of connecting these worlds and also develop other perspectives on the potential of rural areas and rural youth.”
