The project in a few words

Circus ARts to Empower Life ‘’CAREL’’ aims to explore deeply the topic of youth empowerment through circus arts. Participants will live an intercultural experience while exploring the potential of circus arts and its potential to work on self-growth and self-empowerment through non-formal learning techniques.

Main Objectives

  • Raising participants’ awareness of the psychological risks associated with social and cultural isolation and facing these emotional barriers. To promote good mental fitness through the practice of an activity that is both sportive & artistic with an emphasis on self-expression.
  • Promoting an eco-friendly practice since the majority of the activities that will be offered do not require disposable equipment or can be adapted to whatever is available. With the added possibility of gaining from the upcycling economy by making our equipment (juggling balls).
  • Empowering youth with a practical experience to develop their agility and dexterity; at the same time as they acquire a new skill, making them feel more comfortable expressing themselves physically in front of an audience. This non-formal training should also help them to get to know themselves better, potentially discovering their abilities to react calmly and responsibly in stressful situations upon social contacts (which can be challenging for youngsters).
  • Offering a social and cultural opening through intercultural dialogue based on a European mobility programme.
