The project in a few words
“#ACTion” is a youth exchange organized by Primi Piani ODV that seeks to underline and fight against the major issue of dehumanization towards others. And, for doing so, the hosting organization proposes using theatre as an inclusion method!
In modern Europe we still experience severe forms of this phenomenon in relation to ethnicity and nationality, causing suffering, fear, and diminishing life quality for the many people affected by it. Through theatre and creative activities, we will give participants the tools to recognize and deconstruct the acts of dehumanization that they witness, experience, or produce in their personal lives, in order to contribute to the development of a more open, inclusive, and free Europe.
Main Objectives
- To create awareness and knowledge about the topic of ethnic dehumanization which is widespread across Europe,
- To promote an open and safe environment where participants can share and learn from one other, and debate in a constructive and productive way in order to be enriched by such diversity,
- To give the participants a toolkit of information and actions in order to develop critical thinking, which in turn they will use to deconstruct and fight the occurences of dehumanization they experience in their countries,
- To develop knowledge about how media works, and how social and cultural environment can shape and define the identity of the people who live within it,
- To teach the participants theatre methodologies and activities which they can use to express themselves and apply to a variety of contexts and situations,
- To contribute towards a process where young and new generations of Europeans will have an active role in making Europe much more inclusive, accessible, and free from fear and prejudice.
Who can apply?
Youngsters (18-31 years old) that…
- … have experienced phenomenon of dehumanization or are interested in learning more about this topic
- … are interested in art, theatre, performing, and being creative
- … are fluent in English as a working language (being able to understand and communicate in English for the entire project)
- … can commit to attending to the project for its full duration
- … are proactive and willing to learn more about the topic
- … are residing in Germany
- … We encourage the participation of participants with fewer opportunities. (Participants with fewer opportunities will be prioritised.)
Hosting Organisation
Primi Piani Odv is an Italian association active since the year 2007 that aims to stimulate active citizenship through the commitment of the associated volunteers and its associates, using non-formal education, multimedia and communication tools and, in addition, through the dissemination of artistic, cultural, creative and scientific content.
The main purpose is to select and disseminate audiovisual, photographic, artistic and textual content on social issues and to promote them, above all by, digital means through the Web and, when applicable, through press, printed publications and the organization of dedicated events.
